Our Physicians have been working non-stop to expand our response to COVID-19 for our patients. We now offer the COVID-19 antibody testing for your children.
Benefits of getting tested:
An Antibody test (blood test) detects if you have had prior exposure to COVID-19 and have built an antibody for the virus. A positive antibody means prior exposure to a virus and some degree of immunity to future infection. As COVID-19 is a novel (new) infection, it is unclear if a positive antibody definitively offers immunity. Therefore, you should practice universal precautions regardless of the results of the test.
Our process for having your child tested:
1. Your child must be without symptoms related to possible coronavirus for a minimum of 2 weeks. This is to increase the accuracy of the test. This means no fever, cough, and shortness of breath, body aches, and no other flu-like symptoms for a minimum of 2 weeks.
If your child meets these criteria, go ahead and call the office to set up a screening appointment to ensure the appropriateness and timing of testing. If your physician determines testing should occur, they will do the blood draw during your appointment.
How long will it take to receive my results?
Generally, it will take 3-5 days to receive your antibody test results. Our office staff will contact you with the results of the test once received.
How much does an antibody test cost?
We are not collecting copayments for COVID-19 related visits at the time of service. We will bill your Insurance company directly for the office visit and blood draw in which they will then allocate your out-of-pocket expense if any. If you have specific concerns, you should contact your insurance provider ahead of your appointment to confirm they will cover the cost of your visit and test.
